It was an absolute pleasure working with Kathy. I was impressed with her ability to take so much information and feedback, sort through it, develop recommendations, guide the council through a proposed committee structure AND do it all with support from all seven council members.

For change to happen, it does so within our individual cultures. Mindsets change with perspectives and relationships. We shift how we relate to power. We inform ourselves from the voices of others and gather the stories of all who are affected. We make space. Space to listen, to heal and to notice something bigger than ourselves. We create circles, practices, focus groups and communities. We gather.
— Kathy Solberg

Working in the political realm is no easy feat! Kathy was a true gem. She immediately understood the goals and was incredibly adaptable to our zigs and zags in the process and schedule. She was effective at getting meaningful contributions from all the participating elected officials and summarizing it in a usable form. We have a great list of priorities and goals for the year, which would simply not have been possible without Kathy’s work.
— Brenda Stonecipher, President Everett City Council

How we create community

CommonUnity shows up in my life in four ways:

One, through a connection of minds when I have the opportunity for dialogue, discussion, and permission to be curious. Two, connection of spirit, broadening my sense of place, self, and meaning in the world. Three, connection of citizen, when I can join in a line with another to exponentially increase my own potential for impact. And four, connection of people, reminding me that I'm not alone and that others love and care for me. Create common unity using the connections of mind, citizen, spirit – and people, to build your bridge from passion to purpose.

There are so many questions and challenges in this world that need answers, and you taking an active role to lead in your community is the best chance we all have.

what people are saying

"Kathy is one of the most intellectual and motivated individuals I have ever come across. What fascinates me the most is her analytical and storytelling abilities. As an Executive Director of LSC, she has taken LSC to greater heights around Washington state (even nationally) and has fostered relationships to build an everlasting community of leaders. Her sustained focus on racial equity and a commitment to creating social, economic, and political opportunities for racial minorities are invigorating.Kathy continues to inspire me with her work in the community. And I know that each passing day, she is changing the world for the better."

Leadership Matters

  • Catalyst

Using observation and intuition to work with others to create what is possible.

  • Community

Creating awareness of diverse voices to shape perspectives and build networks of support and service.

  • Regeneration

Going beyond sustainability and resilience for lasting systemic change that increases capacity.

  • Gathering

Bringing together purpose, intentionality and values to how we operate when we convene with one or many to increase outcomes and connectedness.

You’re ready to take the next step.

Change is on the horizon as you know that learning has taken place but are not quite sure how to assess it. It can be hard to imagine what transformation support even looks like day to day. That’s okay. Our most successful engagements begin with nothing more than a candid conversation.

“Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”
- Lewis Carroll
